A special Canadian scholarship initiative has been created to encourage Canadian students to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, thereby increasing the camp’s international diversity. Scholarships from this special initiative will be awarded on a first come-first served basis and cannot be honored if the program and/or requested session is full. Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is divided into four two-week sessions as follows:
High School/Collegiate (grades 9-12 next year, central camp)
Session I: June 25 July 6
Session II: July 9-July 20
Intermediate/Junior High School (grades 7-9 next year, central camp)
Session III: July 23 August 3
Session IV: August 6 August 17
To qualify, students must be enrolled in a Canadian secondary school in the Fall of 2008 and be between the ages of 12 and 18 (grades 7 12 next school year). In addition, a completed Canadian scholarship application and a brief written recommendation from the students arts teacher or private instructor is required.
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp offers students programs in band, choir, orchestra, jazz, art, theater, dance, and piano. Click here for a complete list of program information. Blue Lake’s junior camp, Camp Bernstein, also serves younger students (grades 5 8) interested in Band and Orchestra. Click here for a list of former Blue Lake Faculty. While the Canadian Scholarship is not available for the Camp Bernstein program, younger participants are still eligible to apply for other scholarships through Blue Lake.
Full tuition, including room and board, averages $1,025 (US). Additional fees are possible for some majors and minors. There are also uniform requirements and these costs are the responsibility of each camper. Click here for complete information on fees and deposits. For 2008, the Canadian scholarship amount is $600 (US) for session I and $400 (US) for sessions II-IV.
A student receiving a Blue Lake scholarship is not automatically registered in a camp session. A Blue Lake camp application (from the center of the Blue Lake catalog or on our website) must be completed and sent in with a $200 (US) deposit in order to be enrolled. The camp application and deposit may be submitted with the Canadian Scholarship Application Form or submitted after you have received official confirmation of your scholarship. All Blue Lake enrollment is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and a scholarship award does not guarantee or reserve enrollment for a student.
