

Blue Lake International Adult Band Like the International Program’s student groups, the International Adult Band has various date commitments throughout the spring and summer. The International Adult Band also enjoys the experience of staying with host families as they travel throughout Europe. Many European Community Bands are anxious for their American counterparts to join them in making beautiful music! The tour will culminate with a special homecoming concert at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp on August 14, 2013 2013 Adult Band Donald Flickinger currently is Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs for Ferris State University. Prior to this appointment, he was Academic Department Head for the College of Arts and Science’s Humanities Department, Professor of Music, Director of Bands, Conductor of the University Chamber Orchestra and Coordinator of the Music Industry Management Program. Mr. Flickinger holds Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music degrees from Central Michigan University. He is a past president of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and was chosen Michigan’s Band Director of the Year in 1980. For eight years he organized and conducted the West Central Concert Band, a Big Rapids based adult band. Mr. Flickinger has been associated with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for 36 seasons. He has been a regular conductor for student groups, the Festival Orchestra and Band, and the International symphony Band, and he serves as the conductor for the Blue Lake International Adult Community Band. He and his wife, Kaye, have led numerous concert tours through Europe with Blue Lake bands. Currently, he is the program administrator of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s summer Adult Arts Program consisting of fourteen four day mini camps in a variety of arts areas. He is also a member of the Blue Lake Board of Trustees. He remains active as a clinician and adult band guest conductor, and his primary conducting focus continues to be adult recreational music.
