 James Olcott, is Professor of Music and Instructor of Trumpet at Miami
University (Ohio), and a former member of the faculties of the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire, and Fort Hays State University (Kansas). He received his undergraduate training at San Francisco State University and his master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. In his present position at Miami University, Mr. Olcott teaches trumpet and is the conductor of the Miami University Trumpet Ensemble. He performs on a regular basis throughout the southern Ohio region in both classical and jazz idioms, and is founder and music director of the Cincinnati Herald Trumpet Ensemble. Mr. Olcott has been associated with Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp since 1979 as summer camp Jazz Faculty, as well as Director of Blue Lake in Bavaria and International Program Jazz Ensembles.
