Penny Daab Cushway is currently director of Bands at Big Rapids Middle Schools. In addition to directing the sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands, and eighth grade jazz band, she also teaches elective courses of early and twentieth century music history. Mrs. Daab Cushway received a bachelor’s degree in music and art from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree from Northern Michigan University. Before coming to Big Rapids, Mrs. Daab Cushway taught in the Fennville Public Schools and Chassell Township Schools, as well as having worked as a free lance artist for Empathy Graphics in New York. Since the summer of 1986 she has been a conductor of the junior high school sessions of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan. She conducted the Blue Lake International Symphony Band in 2002., and the International Northern Winds in 2006.
