2008 Community & Family Opportunities
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is a Michigan non-profit corporation, and a summer fine arts "school" which celebrated its 41st season of operation this past summer. The International Exchange Program, which began in the Fall of 1969, has enjoyed 39 years of making music and friends in the United States and Europe.

Each summer Blue Lake sends 6 performing groups to Europe for a 21 day tour, which includes visits in host families and a performance in at least 7 communities. In return for the hospitality from our European friends, we invite a performing group from their community to come to the U.S. and we arrange two-week tours for all, with accommodations being in private American host families in each community visited. We are currently booking the tour stations for these groups.

When our students return from Europe they are hosted in a community in Michigan - in host families, and are offered an opportunity for a performance. We are also currently seeking such communities.

We would like to share exchange program with your school and/or community. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

Does your community have an active music program (which may include a choir, jazz band, symphony orchestra, ballet class, brass band, theatre) - and enjoy beautiful music and the fine arts?

Does it place considerable value and importance on cultural exchange, and look for opportunities to make friends with people from musical organizations?

Is there a performance facility (auditorium, concert hall, studio, church etc.) which could accommodate a full symphony orchestra, symphony band, choir, ballet ensemble, jazz band concert or theatre performance?

Does your area retain citizens of all ages interested in making friends with young or adult Europeans or Asians?

If your answer to one or more of the above is "YES", then perhaps you, your school, organization, or your community might be interested in becoming actively involved with Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp's International Exchange Program!

If you are interested, please let us know immediately and via FAX.  Our FAX number here in the U.S. is 231-894-8849 or 231-893-5120 or send email to sheroky@bluelake.org.
